BOC Aviation is a long-term supporter of Airlink’s disaster response relief programmes. Our recent support has gone to transporting medical supplies for various relief efforts globally. Airlink is a global humanitarian organization delivering critical aid to communities in crisis by providing airlift and logistical solutions to nonprofit partners, changing the way the humanitarian community responds to disasters around the world.

Environmental Sustainability
At BOC Aviation, we actively work to reduce our direct carbon emissions and environmental footprint. We emphasise the use of electronic communications and video conferencing to avoid unnecessary travel. We have taken a strong stand against the use of private jets, which are prohibited under our travel policy.
In 2023, our electricity consumption was 358,998 kWh, or 1,813 kWh of electricity consumed per average headcount. In terms of consumption per headcount, this is a 58% decrease as compared to our baseline year of 2019, which puts us ahead of our target of a 55% decrease in electricity consumption per average headcount set to be accomplished by end 2025.
Paper consumption was 1,800 kilograms in 2023 across our offices, or nine kilograms of paper used per average headcount, as a result of increased business activities. In terms of consumption per headcount, this is a 57% decrease from our baseline year of 2019.
Total carbon emissions in 2023 were higher than 2022 at 1,401 tonnes or 7.08 tonnes per average employee. In terms of consumption per headcount, this is a 35% decrease as compared to our baseline year of 2019, which puts us ahead of our target for end 2025, which is to reduce CO2 emissions per average headcount (tones) by 20%.
BOC Aviation was 100% carbon neutral for direct emissions in 2023 through offset purchases from an accredited projects, the Katingan Restoration and Conservation Project in Indonesia and the Zhangye Improved Grassland Management Project in China, to offset our direct carbon emissions and to contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which BOC Aviation is committed to supporting.

BOC Aviation is committed to enhancing shareholder value by achieving high standards of corporate ethics, conduct, transparency and accountability. We are firmly committed to a culture of transparency and compliance and we conduct our business affairs with high standards of honesty and integrity through our policies including anti-bribery, anti-money laundering and fraud risk management.
The Board of Directors has overall responsibility for the Company’s ESG strategy, and is responsible for evaluating and determining the Company’s ESG-related risks, and ensuring that appropriate and effective ESG risk management and internal control systems are in place. As at 19 April 2024 (being the approval date of the ESG report), we had 11 Directors on the Board of BOC Aviation, comprising one Executive Director, six Non-executive Directors and four Independent Non-executive Directors.

As a global aircraft leasing Company with offices in five countries, we are proud to have a diverse workforce with an equal balance of male and female employees. At 31 December 2023, we employed people from 20 different nationalities in our Company.

A HEALTHY AND SAFE WORKPLACE
A Modern And Efficient Fleet
BOC Aviation is committed to supporting the aviation industry in reducing global carbon emissions by building a more efficient fleet to address climate changes. As at end of 2023, 100% of aircraft in our orderbook and 77% of aircraft in our owned fleet comprised the latest technology aircraft.
Our deliveries in 2023 comprised the Airbus A220-300, Airbus A320NEO family, Boeing 737-8 and Boeing 787 aircraft, all of which have 20% average fuel savings compared to prior technology aircraft.
Investment In The Community
BOC Aviation participates in various trade, business and industry associations to contribute to the growth and governance of the aviation industry. We also make donations to various non-profit organisations for humanitarian and charitable purposes. We do not provide any donations of a political nature.
